Rev. Jake Stewart

Welcome to Streetsville Baptist Church! We want to introduce you to Jesus or help you grow in Him if you know Him already. It is my pleasure to serve the Chief Shepherd by pastoring at SBC, and I have been blessed to be a part of this family of believers. What a delight it was to find a church hungering after God, truly caring for its members, possessing a sweet spirit of unity, and eager to reach out. It is a sincere privilege not only to serve and worship God through His Son Jesus together with these fellow-believers but also to walk alongside and grow with them. May our great God and faithful Saviour continue to bless us as we seek to glorify His Name in everything!

You called and cried out loud and shattered my deafness. You were radiant and resplendent, You put to flight my blindness. You were fragrant, and I drew in my breath and now pant after You. I tasted You, and I feel but hunger and thirst for You. You touched me, and I am set on fire to attain the peace which is Yours. –Augustine

Theology and Doctrine of Pastor Jake Stewart

Pastor Jake Stewart was born in Edmonton, Alberta to godly Christian parents. He accepted Jesus Christ into his life as a child and has sought to serve Him ever since. While working and serving in South Korea, he received the calling to pastoral ministry and returned to Canada to study in Toronto at Wycliffe College (Toronto School of Theology). He has pastored in Korea and Scarborough and taught Biblical Studies and New Testament Greek at the college level. Streetsville Baptist Church called him to come and serve in Mississauga, and he began here in early 2011. In 2012 he had the honour of marrying Fanny, and she has been a blessing to our church family.

Elder Philip Thomas

As a church, we desire to see people come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and to join our covenant community.  One of our primary responsibilities and purposes as a church is to be of spiritual good to one another, encouraging one another forward in our faith.  We hold high the worshipping of the Lord each Sunday and the providing of warm Christian fellowship throughout the week.  I believe that if you love Jesus you will love and cherish the Church for whom he died (Eph 5:25).  We would love to have you join us in our loving and caring Church community, as we strive to reflect the love of Christ through our care for one another.

Deacon Alejandro Arancel

I've been a member of Streetsville Baptist Church since 2013 and I am glad to be part of this Bible believing community. My prayer is that we, as a body of believers who share in our faith, continue to look to Christ and His Gospel, to be the continuing source of our joy, peace and love for one another and the community at large. I am humbled and thankful for the opportunity to serve as a deacon at SBC.

Deacon Rui Rebello

I have been a member of Streetsville Baptist Church since 2014, and I thank God for leading me and my family to this Bible believing, Christ loving church. It is my honour to serve as a deacon at SBC where God's Holy Word, The Bible, is the foundation of our belief in God. It is my prayer that we will continue to grow in the knowledge, worship and love of God, as we continue to support, encourage and pray for each other and welcome those who desire to know God and share in His Gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.

Andrea Vertolli, Church Secretary

It is my pleasure to serve SBC as secretary at this time in my life. I have attended SBC for most of my life and have made many friends here and continue to make new ones. I have some big shoes to fill but I will do my best to continue the good work that was started here many years ago. I look forward to being a liaison to the community of Streestville to our little church on the hill.

Honorary Elder

the Reverend V. Philip Philips,
Pastor Emeritus and Honorary Elder of SBC

Pastor Philip Philips was born in south India and came to know the Lord Jesus as His personal Saviour and Lord at the age of seven. After operating a trading company for a few years, he answered the Lord’s calling and became a pastor.

He became the chaplain of the Armed Forces of India, serving there for eleven years. In 1975 the Lord led him and his wife Stella, to move to Canada to develop a ministry here. Working with FEBCC he became a Chaplain, first with Toronto’s Asian community, then at York University and finally at Lester B. Pearson Airport, where he served for 33 years. During that time, he also served as FEBCC’s National Director of Chaplaincy for 18 years.

Just months after his retirement from the Chaplaincy ministry, the Lord called him to pastor at Streetsville Baptist Church. Rev. Philips faithfully answered that call and was pastor of Streetsville Baptist Church from April 2007 until February 2011.
